Combustion engines reloaded - CO2 neutral is also possible!
It is an explosive topic when it comes to which strategy is the right one in the long term: electric-only and thus the end for all combustion models?
As a manufacturer of combustion engines, our stance on this is hardly surprising. We stand by our products and are convinced that every means of propulsion has its raison d’être. It’s the mix that counts and every user should be allowed to decide according to their needs.
Already available today with HVO 100and synthetic fuels such as eFuels make it possible to drive almost CO2-free immediately and without interfering with the engine. Depending on the manufacturer’s approval, this applies to existing and future fleets.
We propagate technological openness and ask ourselves why not combine the best of both worlds? For example, with an intelligent hybrid that drives purely electrically at speeds of up to 50 km/h and only switches to CO2-free combustion mode at higher speeds. Et voilà – the result is a vehicle for every occasion and every requirement.
Music of the future? Perhaps. But in times of geoblocking, AI and Industry 4.0, this should be technically possible. In any case, we are ready to get the necessary drive unit into shape.
"The problem is the fossil fuel and not the combustion engine itself!"
